2020 Policy Conference
Hello Social Work Community!
For those who were able to join us this year for the 2020 NASW-WA State Policy Conference, thank you for making your way to the capitol and making your voice heard. If you were unable to meet with a legislator or staff, we hope you got an opportunity to see some floor action and to find your legislators' offices. If you did not find the governor's office in the Legislative Building, all the more reason to come back!
Just a reminder for folks, the session ends March 12, so the time will go fast if you have more to tell your representatives!
I wanted to send a follow up email with some resources for those who came and also for those who couldn't be with us.
The PDFs of the briefs for you to send electronically to your representatives is attached, so whether or not you were at the capitol today, you can send over the briefs to your legislators about issues NASW-WA is backing. You may locate your district, and contact your legislators (upload pdfs to email) here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/
REMEMBER-some of the bills are dead (or mostly dead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qVlNiAYshQ), here is the current list I have of those bills:
If you would like to watch the floor action for the rest of the session live, you may do that here: https://www.tvw.org/
If you don't care to watch, but want to check in from time to time, check what's happening on the floor for the rest of session here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/far/House/Calendar
If you would like to sign up for updates of your own, or to follow certain bills, you may do that here: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/WALEG/subscriber/new
If you would like updates from rule making with the Department of Health, which governs the social work profession, you may sign up for that here: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/WADOH/subscriber/new
You may contact the social work legislative staffers that spoke today at the conference with the following information:
Chio Saeteurn- Chio.Saeteurn@leg.wa.gov
Penny Lipsou- Penny.Lipsou@leg.wa.gov
Noha Mahgoub- Noha.Mahgoub@leg.wa.gov
REMEMBER TO SEND THANK YOUs TO ANY STAFF YOU WERE ABLE TO MEET! Shoot me an email if you are having a hard time coming up with something to say!

You can actually register here: https://olvr.votewa.gov/default.aspx?Org=NASW-WA
We had over 160 people register for this year's event, and we had people from EVERY corner of Washington. Thank you so much for dedication to advancing the social work profession in our state!
