2020 Policy Conference

Hello Social Work Community!

For those who were able to join us this year for the 2020 NASW-WA State Policy Conference, thank you for making your way to the capitol and making your voice heard. If you were unable to meet with a legislator or staff, we hope you got an opportunity to see some floor action and to find your legislators' offices. If you did not find the governor's office in the Legislative Building, all the more reason to come back!

Just a reminder for folks, the session ends March 12, so the time will go fast if you have more to tell your representatives!

I wanted to send a follow up email with some resources for those who came and also for those who couldn't be with us.

  • The PDFs of the briefs for you to send electronically to your representatives is attached, so whether or not you were at the capitol today, you can send over the briefs to your legislators about issues NASW-WA is backing. You may locate your district, and contact your legislators (upload pdfs to email) here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/

  • REMEMBER-some of the bills are dead (or mostly dead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qVlNiAYshQ), here is the current list I have of those bills:

    • SHB 1656

HB 1892

SHB 2002

HB 2012

HB 2262

HB 2563

SB 5583

SSB 5733

2SSB 5744
